HAAS NAMED FREEDOM FIELD HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK
St. Davids, PA, September 11, 2008: Eastern University midfielder Christin Haas earned Freedom Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week honors for the week ending September 7. The first-year student from Wilmington, DE earned the honor for a stellar performance in the Eagles 9-0 win over former PAC rival Gwynedd-Mercy College on Saturday, September 6. Haas scored three goals and registered a pair of assists before halftime, as Eastern forged a 6-0 lead at the break. She collected an assist in the second half to finish with a nine-point day.
“Christin showed great drive and commitment to helping us get off to a quick start,” Head Coach Camrin Azzarano said. “When she comes in off the bench, she gives us a different look that I think will give many teams problems.”
At Wilmington Christian High School, Hass graduated in 2008 on the 1st Team All-State Field Hockey Team, All-State Honorable Mention, and was a two-time First Team All Conference member.
The Eagles are off to a quick start with three shutout wins. Their mettle will be tested in the upcoming week as they host a pair of national powers in Messiah College (#7 in the NFHCA Pre-season Poll) and The College of New Jersey (#3 Pre-season).
