MBA PROGRAMS RANKED 9TH BY PHILA. BUSINESS JOURNAL
St. Davids, PA, October 21, 2008: Eastern University’s MBA program was ranked 9th out of 22 MBA programs in the Philadelphia area by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Released on September 26, the Philadelphia Business Journal ranked Eastern’s MBA in management, health administration and economic development in the top 40% of programs in the area by 2007-2008 academic year enrollment.
“It is gratifying to have our program recognized by the larger business and academic communities,” Provost David A. King said. “Like each of our programs, our MBA program weaves Eastern’s distinctive integration of faith, reason and justice in such a way as to transform the lives of our students.”
Eastern University offers three MBA programs: Fast-Track MBA® in management, Fast-Track MBA® in health administration, and MBA in economic development. Part of Eastern University’s Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies, these programs are offered at dozens of locations throughout southeastern Pennsylvania, central Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C. and on five continents around the world.
“Classes are offered in a variety of locations, making it easy for prospective students to find a program near their home or work,” Mitul Ajmera, a 26-year-old MBA student said. “The accelerated format permits a student to complete the program in a much shorter time period than traditional MBA programs. Also, the cohort model at Eastern permits students to progress from course to course together as a group.”
Eastern’s Fast-Track MBA® in management program is designed to develop leaders who are entrepreneurial in their interaction with the knowledge-based, global economy of the twenty-first century. The Fast-Track MBA® in health administration program focuses on addressing business issues unique to hospitals and other health-related institutions including economics, medicine, government policies and social sciences. Teaching methods and materials are based on adult learning models, which rely on facilitated dialogue, group projects, and previous experience.
Students in the MBA in economic development (international or urban concentration) program serve alongside individuals, churches, and ministries with a program that recognizes the multi-faceted causes of poverty. Students are taught to recognize the need for holistic intervention strategies that address the underlying economic, social, cultural, political and spiritual challenges abroad and in the United States.
The Philadelphia Business Journal’s Top Ten MBA rankings (by 2007-2008 academic year enrollment) are as follows: Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania), Drexel University, La Salle University, DeSales University, Temple University, Saint Joseph’s University, Penn State University Great Valley, Villanova University, Eastern University and Rutgers University, respectively.
