MUSIC GALA BENEFIT CONCERT MARCH 27
St. Davids, PA, February 17, 2009: The Eastern University 6th Annual Music Gala Benefit Concert is Friday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. It will be held again this year at Church of the Saviour, 651 North Wayne Avenue, Wayne, PA.
The Music Gala features David Kim, Concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Eastern University Artist in Residence. Violinist David Kim is scheduled to play "Come Christians Join to Sing" (J. Strong), "Dear Lord and Father" (P.S. Jones), "Meditation from Thais" (Massenet), and "Sonatensatz" (Brahms), accompanied by Dr. Ron Matthews, Chair of the EU Music Department, on the piano.
The popular Eastern University Piano Quartet made up of music faculty Ron Matthews, James Correnti, David Bryant and Duncan Stearns, will also perform. In addition, the Ron Matthews and David Bryant piano duo will play "Rhapsody and Fugue on Two Hymns" (written by Ron Matthews). Soprano Carole Latimer, clarinetist Joe Smith, and pianist James Correnti will perform "Shepherd on the Rock" (Schubert). The Gala will showcase the talents of Eastern University students in Turning Point, and the University Choir, as well as other music faculty and students.
