NONPROFIT LECTURE AT EASTERN UNIVERSITY MAY 28
Dr. Tony Campolo to Present “Recession-proofing Your Nonprofit”
St. Davids, PA, March 27, 2009: The Eastern University School of Leadership and Development presents its annual Nonprofit Lecture with the Rev. Dr. Anthony (Tony) Campolo on Thursday, May 28, from 6-9 p.m. in the Warner Library Atrium on the campus at 1300 Eagle Road in St. Davids, PA. The topic, "Recession-proofing Your Nonprofit," could not be more timely in these turbulent economic times. This lecture is free and open to the public, but seating is limited, so registration is recommended. Dr. Tony Campolo is a professor emeritus of sociology at Eastern University and the founder of the Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education, which develops schools and social programs in the two-thirds world and cities across the United States. Dr. Campolo, an alumnus of Eastern University and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Palmer Seminary), earned a Ph.D. at Temple University and served on the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania before joining Eastern's faculty. He is a renowned motivational speaker who has inspired multitudes around the world to live their faith through committed activism.
Named by Christianity Today as one of the most influential preachers of the last 50 years, Dr. Campolo is also the best-selling author of over 35 books on religious and social issues. These include the recent Letters to a Young Evangelical, The God of Intimacy and Action, and Red Letter Christians: A Citizen's Guide to Faith and Politics.
The Nonprofit Lecture Series was developed to provide leaders in the nonprofit community with an annual opportunity to discuss major issues or dilemmas affecting society, and help them formulate solutions. Previous speakers have included nonprofit leaders from throughout the Delaware Valley such as Liz Scott, Vice President of Development for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.
Eastern's Master of Science in Nonprofit Management Program is part of the School of Leadership and Development in the Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies, named to honor Dr. Tony Campolo. This innovative Nonprofit Program combines methodology relevant to nonprofit organizations with underlying theory.
