EASTERN UNIVERSITY AND UNITED WAY PRESENT O’YES! CONFERENCE AUGUST 16
To Enlighten Phila. Area Students about Topics Related to Sex
O’YES! features dynamic workshops, interactive seminars, games, prizes and a free lunch. Entertainment will be provided by Un1.Vs. Soul and Grammy-nominated Christian Hip Hop artist da T.R.U.T.H. Free HIV testing will be provided by St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and free STD testing will be provided by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. In past years, over 300 urban youth, youth workers and parents have participated in the conference. This year’s interactive seminars include: Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?; Teen Sex in the City; Pretty Poison (Pornography); How to Raise a Teenager; Love, Lust and Lies; and more. There will also be free resources for parents and youth, and a discussion panel.
Eastern University’s Center for Urban Youth Development (CUYD) provides training and resources for organizations and individuals serving the needs of urban youth. Through the development of academic programs (certificate and degree), special events and instructional institutes, CUYD addresses the critical needs of both youth and youth workers.
Registration for O’YES! is $20 per person. Bring a group of 14 people, and the 15th person attends at no cost. After July 18, add $5 per person to the registration fee.
