EU PRESENTS "THE GREAT DIVORCE" MARCH 21
St. Davids, PA, March 13, 2009: Eastern University Theatre and The Templeton Honors College present Tony Lawton in The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis. This special matinee presentation will be one time only, Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m. in McInnis Auditorium on the Eastern University campus at 1300 Eagle Road in St. Davids, PA.
Tony Lawton is founder of the Mirror Theatre Company and has performed at the Wilma Lantern and Arden Theatres. He recently played George in Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men at Philadelphia's Walnut Street Theatre. His numerous stage credits include his adaptations of C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters and The Great Divorce. He has appeared in the films Unbreakable (2000), Invincible (2006), and in the CBS programs Hack and Cold Case. He has been described by the Philadelphia City Paper as the "Best One-Man Theatre."
The Great Divorce is a work of fantasy by C. S. Lewis that portrays Christian perceptions of life after death allegorically, specifically one individual's journey from hell/purgatory ("the gray town") to heaven and salvation. The title refers to William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. The Great Divorce was first printed as a serial in a religious publication in 1944 and 1945, and soon thereafter in book form.
Tickets are just $5 and are available at the Box Office or by calling 610.225.5545.
