BASEBALL PLAYERS EARN PAC HONORS

St. Davids, PA, May 8, 2008:  On May 6, the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) announced the All-Conference list for 2008 and a pair of Eagles who have played a major role in the program's growth over the past four years received recognition.  Davis Murray earned first team honors and Kenny Long received second team recognition as an infielder.

Murray, a senior shortstop from Connecticut, led the Eagles with a .393 batting average, 36 RBI, 13 doubles, and 46 hits. Murray was steady in the field with a .913 fielding percentage while starting each of the Eagles' 33 games. He also holds the second all-time Eastern University single season RBI record with 35.

Kenny Long split time between first base and the mound. He was recognized for his work at first base and at the plate, but the gritty right-hander also led the Eastern staff with five wins and 58 innings pitched. Long made just a single error in nearly 200 attempts in the field. At the plate, the senior from Pottstown, PA led the Eagles with a remarkable .527 on base percentage. The .316 hitter knocked in 22 runs and brought a great approach to every at bat.

Eastern University Baseball set a new mark for league wins this year with an 8-10 mark. The team’s standout second baseman and MVP Mike Santello earned honorable mention. Santello started all 33 games for the Eagles, and he led the team with three home runs.  Long was also recognized as Eastern's representative on the PAC All-Sportsmanship team.
