611 GRADUATE AT EASTERN UNIVERSITY SPRING COMMENCEMENT
St. Davids, PA, May 12, 2008: Eastern University held its commencement ceremonies for the College of Arts and Sciences, Esperanza College, and the Campolo College of Graduate and Professional Studies on Saturday, May 10, on the St. Davids, PA, campus.
Commencement speaker Dr. Randall Balmer joined student speakers Joshua MacIvor-Andersen, Tracie Tucker Sandy, and Kathryn Hylinski in addressing the crowd of 611 graduates and their families, friends, and guests. Dr. Balmer, a professor of American Religious History at Barnard College of Columbia University, spoke on the topic of the “full-time” Christian servant, recognizing the significance of such service and the difference it makes to the individual and society. The Angels of Harmony Gospel Choir performed a selection titled “The Rising of the Son,” which was composed by current student Jason Collier.
