EASTERN COMMUNITY GATHERS TO REMEMBER 9-11
St. Davids, PA, September 11, 2008: To commemorate the events of September 11, 2001, the annual 9-11 service and candle lighting will take place Thursday evening, September 11, at 8:00 p.m. on the baseball field
below Gallup Hall (rain location: Gough Hall Great Room) on the St. Davids campus. The theme for this service is remembrance and hope.
The event, open to the campus and community, is co-sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Student Chaplain Program of the College of Arts and Sciences in cooperation with the University Chaplain.
"The service is held at the same location where students gathered to pray on September 11, 2001," University Chaplain Dr. Joseph B. Modica said. "The men's baseball field is symbolic because it is where we met as a community on that tragic day, where we prayed and supported each other. The baseball field brings us back to that moment in time."
In addition to candlelight and prayer, the service will feature music and a brief reflection from SGA President Justin Tomevi. We hope that you will join us. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Modica at 610.341.5826 or jmodica@eastern.edu.
