End of the World? Planetarium Shows Nov. 2, 3, 9 and 10
St. Davids, PA, October 19, 2012: The Julia Fowler Planetarium at Eastern University presents 2012: The End of the World - NOT! This all new planetarium show, produced by the Virginia Living Museum, opens with a discussion of the Maya and their calendar, and the significance of December 21, 2012. The show then shifts to an examination of the many claims of doom and destruction surrounding that date, and tackles those which can be disproven scientifically.
Did the Mayans predict the end of time thousands of years ago? Will increasing solar activity destroy our planet by December? Is a killer asteroid inbound during 2012? Finally, we talk about the most likely scenario for the actual end of the world (someday when the Sun goes red giant) and we end on an encouraging note, urging our audience to reach for the stars.
Show dates are Friday, November 2; Saturday, November 3; Friday, November 9; and Saturday, November 10. Shows are 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on each of these evenings. The cost is $5 per person. Make your reservations at 610.341.1390.
Be sure to reserve early because seating is very limited.
