St. Davids, PA, April 11, 2013: Dr. Stacey R. Sauchuk, a 1981 graduate of Eastern University, will become the first female civilian head of Valley Forge Military Academy and College (VFMAC) on June 1. Dr. Sauchuk also served as a member and later chair of the Eastern University Board of Trustees from 2005 to 2012.
VFMAC was founded in 1928 and is a private, boarding and day school that offers grades seven to 12 at the academy and postgraduate education in the college. "This is a very special place, and I'm excited to come in and take something like this to the next level," Dr. Sauchuk said.
William R. Floyd Jr., chairman of the Valley Forge Board of Trustees, said the board unanimously approved Dr. Sauchuk's selection. She will replace Retired Col. David R. Gray. Floyd said, "Stacey has a great mix of educational management experience, business savvy and vibrant leadership skills, and we're confident this is the start of an exciting new era for this great institution."
Dr. Sauchuk has over 20 years of experience in education, including serving as president and chief executive officer of the Art Institute of Philadelphia. She was senior vice president for academic programs and student affairs with the Education Management Corporation and has recently been the chief operating officer for ESF Summer Camps, Inc. in Bryn Mawr.
After graduating with a bachelor of science degree from Eastern University, Stacey Sauchuk went on to earn her master's degree and doctorate degree in school psychology from Temple University.
