Archbishop Chaput to Speak February 20
St. Davids, PA, February 7, 2014: The Most Reverend Charles J. Chaput, O.F.M. Cap, Archbishop of Philadelphia, will speak at Eastern University on Thursday, February 20, at 8 PM in McInnis Auditorium. His lecture, Religion, the State, and the Common Good, is presented by the Agora Institute for Civic Virtue and the Common Good, The Neumann Forum, and the Eastern University Office of Development. The lecture will be held on the campus at 1300 Eagle Road in St. Davids, PA 19087.
Appointed Archbishop of Philadelphia by Pope Benedict XVI on July 19, 2011 and installed as the 13th Bishop and ninth Archbishop of Philadelphia on September 8, 2011, Archbishop Chaput is a widely known voice on religion in public life. He has addressed this topic in Render Unto Caesar: Serving the Nation by Living Our Catholic Beliefs in Political Life (Doubleday, 2008) and through numerous talks, articles, essays, and pastoral letters.
The Agora Institute for Civic Virtue and the Common Good is an interdisciplinary research center and presents public educational programs throughout the year.
