Enhancing Diversity
Awareness Through Educational Technology

| Abstract: This instructional idea contains six activities linked to websites pertaining to cultural diversity issues and a series of questions. The use of instructional technology was presented this idea as part of a virtual in-service course for teachers, designed to raise their awareness of global and domestic diversity issues. |

Given the ten-year demographic projection for the USA, it is necessary for middle and high school
teachers to develop an understanding and appreciation of increasingly diverse student populations, their history,
culture and geography. The following three distance education activities
provide teachers opportunities to develop global awareness, cultural sensitivity and awareness of
bias while visiting websites and answering a series of questions. [paragraph 1]
