Goode Scholars

The Goode Scholars Program (GSP) was developed for urban students to honor and model the work and service of Dr. W. Wilson Goode, the first African-American to be elected mayor of Philadelphia. 

Scholarship Information

  • 25 students are selected for the GSP. 
  • GSP recipients will receive a $2000 per year award. 
  • The award can be renewed each year, and will be added to any previously earned academic or merit scholarship. 

Candidate Requirements

  • Applicants must reside in inner city communities (defined as an urban city with a population of 50,000 or greater) or serve in an inner city church. 
  • Applicants must have at least a 2.5 minimum GPA or a ranking in the top 30% of their graduating class. 
  • Candidates should be hard working, demonstrate a capacity for leadership and a commitment to their own personal development.  Students selected for GSP receive leadership development, mentoring and support through varied unique, intentional practical experiences.
