Urban Studies: Mission Year Partnership

Details of the Partnership

Eastern University has partnered with Mission Year to offer the following benefits for Mission Year volunteers and alumni who are interested in pursuing the Master of Arts in Urban Studies degree

    30% discount in tuition
    3 credit hours for taking Theology of Poverty through Mission Year (takes the place of Christ and the City)
    Possible 2-3 credit hours for the 1 year of Mission Year experience (takes the place of the Leadership Practicum)
    Mission Year students provide 20 hours of service per semester to the Urban Studies Department (No relocation required)

Admissions Requirements

    Complete the year of Service with Mission Year
    Provide the certificate of completion (provided by Mission Year)
    Return completed and signed application (Under “How did you hear about Eastern University?” please indicate “Mission Year.”)
    Official transcript from all Colleges or Universitys you have attended
    Undergraduate degree with 2.5 GPA minimum
    Completed Essays emailed in Word doc or PDF format to gpsadm@eastern.edu (Youth Development Essay Questions, Community Arts Essay Questions, Community Development Essay Questions)
    Current resume emailed in Word doc or PDF format to gpsadm@eastern.edu

MY alumni enrolled in the Urban Studies program may live in community at the MY arranged housing in Philadelphia. This housing is based on available space within the MY housing program and subject to approval by MY leadership. Students may also choose to live at distance and only come to Philadelphia, during the week-long residencies once a semester.
Service Component

MY alumni enrolled in the Urban Studies program who are taking advantage of the partnership benefits are expected to engage in 20 hours of service per semester for the urban studies department during the course of their studies.
