Bettie Ann Brigham, '74, EdD
Bettie Ann Brigham demonstrates extreme passion for Eastern University's students. With an extensive background of experience at Eastern University, specifically in Student Development, Brigham has served Eastern and its students for many years. Her career in Student Development began with her position as a residence hall director from 1976 to 1991. From 1982 to 1986 she served as the Assistant Dean of Students at Eastern, which involved work with housing placement, residence life oversight, student activities, counseling crisis intervention, and several other duties. Her next position as Associate Dean of Students from 1987 to 1991 added to her portfolio supervising and managing all aspects of student housing and student activities. She also supervised, designed, and implemented all undergraduate orientation events, among various other responsibilities. As Dean of Students from 1992 to May of 2004, Brigham's responsibilities included overseeing all of the duties of the above mentioned positions, along with managing the disciplinary system, judiciary board, and much more.

Vice Provost for Student Development and Retention
Her current position as Vice Provost for Student Development and Retention has her working to problem-solve, improve student life and both challenge and support all students at Eastern University. Since 2004, Dr. Brigham has been leading the University's 18 departments of Student Development/Services, and employee and student support. She is also a member the President's Leadership Team. Dr. Brigham enjoys watching students adapt, grow, and shape their lives throughout their college years and working with her fine colleagues in all departments.
Dr. Brigham graduated from Eastern College with a B.A. in Communication Arts, with a Secondary Education Teaching Certification. She earned her M.S. in Counseling and Human Relations in Higher Education from Villanova University, and earned the Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership in the Graduate Department of Educational Research at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada. Dr. Brigham has been inducted into two National Honor Societies; Phi Kappa Phi, and Kappa Delta Pi. She was also a National Certified Counselor. Brigham is a winner of a creative writing contest, and author of an article entitled Testing of Visually Impaired Students in "Journal of Media Today." She also has professional experience as the Assistant Film Producer for John M. Price Films, Inc., and served as the Director of the Media Center at Eastern College from 1975 to 1982.
Dr. Brigham lives in Wayne, PA with her husband, and has two grown children. She enjoys reading, writing, and various outdoors activities, including running, singing, gardening, and hiking.
