Kathryn joined the Eastern faculty in 2011 as the director of reading programs. Before coming to Eastern, Kathryn was an assistant professor of education at Neumann University where she taught literacy courses to undergraduate and graduate students and supervised student teachers. Prior to that, Kathryn taught for 14 years in both public and private school settings as a first grade teacher and a reading specialist in the School District of Haverford Township and at the Haverford School for Boys.
Kathryn earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Rosemont College where she majored in American Studies and received a teaching certificate in elementary and early childhood education. She received a both a Master’s degree in Reading and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Saint Joseph's University.
Kathryn’s research explores ways in which teachers can provide effective literacy instruction in culturally responsive ways that is beneficial to all students.
Kathryn feels extremely blessed to be at Eastern where she is able to continue learning and teaching with undergraduate and graduate students in the area of her life’s passion - literacy.
