The BSW Application Process Involves 2 Phases:

PHASE 1: Initial Application

  • University Application: Completed and signed - Apply online for free!
  • Transcripts:
    • High School or GED (required for those with no previous college credit)
    • College (must be submitted from all institutions attended)
    • Complete the Request for High School or GED Transcript and/or Request for Official College Transcript and Eastern University will request your transcript on your behalf

If you are accepted into the university and declare the social work major, you will be contacted by your social work faculty advisor about next steps for Phase 2.

PHASE 2: Application to the Social Work Program - For Enrolled Students Only
After you are accepted into the university and have earned approximately 60 credits, you will begin the process of admission to the professional phase of the social work program.  You will work with your social work faculty advisor and receive support to complete your application to the  professional phase of the Program. During this phase, you will need to submit:

  • Application to the program
  • Resume
  • References
  • Essays

The program admission process occurs after completing introductory social work courses.  This process is required by our accrediting body, CSWE. Following admission into the professional phase of the social work  program, students will begin 3 semesters of internships. There are varied settings to choose from in locations throughout the Philadelphia area.
