The BS in Biology at Eastern Univerisity prepares students for immediate entrance into graduate programs in biology. Students may choose one of the following tracks: Medical (pre-med, pre-dental, pre-vet, and pre-PA); Field biology (graduate and professional work in ecology and related disciplines); General biology (individual course selection for specific interests). Biology students will participate in hands-on research in Eastern’s state-of-the-art biology laboratory and will take upper-level courses in cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, the organization of biology, and more.

The BS in Accounting and Finance at Eastern University is designed to equip students with a breadth of understanding in business, economics, and ethics, as well as more specific skills necessary for success in the business world. This minor provides students with an understanding of the public policy process. Models of policy agenda settings, adoption, evaluation, and implementation are considered with reference to substantive policy areas such as economic, environmental, social welfare, health, and civil rights.
Students will also examine public policy from the Christian perspective with an emphasis on social and restorative justice.

Explore the BS in Middle Level Education (4-8)

Students seeking a middle level certification to teach in any 4-8 grades will choose from concentrations that include: 1) English/Reading, 2) Social Studies, 3) Mathematics, and 4) Science. The concentration that the student chooses entitles the graduating student to teach that subject in any of the 4 through 8 grades and in the other non-concentration (focus) areas, grades 4 through 6. Students may choose between nine different tracking options including dual concentrations with either Mathematics or Science as the other concentration.

Explore the Pre-Physical Therapy Track

We, at Eastern University intentionally do not have a formal “Pre-Physical Therapy” major. Instead, the pre-requisite courses are incorporated within the course work required of other majors, such as biology, athletic training and exercise science. This allows students to obtain knowledge and skills in an area that will allow them to obtain a job related to their major, if, for whatever reason, graduate school attendance needs to be deferred. A degree in “pre- physical therapy” or “allied health” limits the scope of what one can do upon graduation.

MA in Clinical Counseling with a concentration in Applied Behavior Analysis

Eastern University offers training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) that degree students may pursue as a concentration for the 60-credit Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling program or non-degree students may pursue to advance their professional credentials.  The concentration is comprised of five ABA theory and practice courses and one ethics course and is offered entirely online.

The Master of Arts in Theological and Cultural Anthropology at Eastern University is an eleven month program that prepares students to teach anthropology, serve in cross-cultural Christian ministry, and/or find jobs in business or government that are related to international work.

Certification in School Nurse (K-12)

This professional education program prepares the candidate as an Education Specialist 1 (K-12). Applicants must hold a current PA licensure as a registered nurse and a bachelor's degree. This program can be combined with a study in the MEd in School Health Services program.

Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement

The Autism Endorsement Concentration and related courses prepare educators and service providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This program also provides the opportunity to obtain a letter of Endorsement from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

Certification in General Supervisor (PreK-12)

The Supervisor Certification programs are offered only at the graduate level.   Candidates must hold certification in the area of the Supervisory Certificate they are seeking and have completed five years of satisfactory experience in the areas of the Supervisory Certificate.  General Supervisor certification is offered in the following areas: Early Childhood (PK-4), World Language (French, Spanish), Middle Level, and Secondary (Biology, Chemistry, Citizenship, Communications, English, Mathematics, and Social Studies).

Certification in Middle Level (4-8)

Eastern University's Graduate Programs in Education is committed to the task of equipping its graduates to comprehend and apply the knowledge, concepts, and skills essential for successful middle level instruction, grades 4-8. The program is designed to promote the delivery of a high quality teacher preparation program which is aligned to the state academic standards. The intent is to produce new teachers who will understand and successfully apply learning principles in the classroom. The needs and interests of middle level students and their schools are at the center of the program.

Certification in PreK-4

This program is designed for students who are interested in teaching PreK through grade 4 in public and private schools. Students need not have a background in education to apply, making the PreK-4 Certification perfect for career changers and those with a variety of educational backgrounds. Upon completion, students can easily transition into one of our Master of Education programs.

Certification in Reading Specialist (PK-12)

The Specialist Certification programs are offered only at the graduate level. Candidates must hold an Instructional I or II certification. The successful completion of this program will prepare students to serve as a K-12 reading specialist.

Certification in School Principalship (PK-12)

The School Principal Certification will lead you through new educational challenges and models, while building your capacity for strategic thinking and effective action. The program integrates internship experiences with those of the classroom, so that your entire program is field-based. The successful completion of this program will prepare students to administrate as a PK-12 Principal or Assistant Principal. 

Certification in Secondary Education- Chemistry (7-12)

This program is designed to prepare students to teach Chemistry in grades 7-12. To be able to teach chemistry in a Pennsylvania (PA) public secondary school, students must have an undergraduate major in Chemistry or the equivalent in the area of certification.  If not, students may be required to take additional courses in their major in addition to secondary education requirements. Observation and teaching in an approved classroom with guidance and evaluation is required.

Certification in Secondary Education- English (7-12)

This program is designed to prepare students to teach English in grades 7-12. To be able to teach English in a Pennsylvania (PA) public secondary school, students must hold a degree in English or the equivalent.  In addition to completing requirements in their major, they need to fulfill secondary education requirements. Observation and teaching in an approved classroom with guidance and evaluation is required.

Certification in Secondary Education- Social Studies (7-12)

To be able to teach social studies in a Pennsylvania (PA) public secondary school, students must hold a degree in social studies or the equivalent.  In addition to completing requirements in their major, they need to fulfill secondary education requirements.  Observation and teaching in an approved classroom with guidance and evaluation is required.

Certification in Special Education Supervisor (K-12)

The successful completion the Special Education Supervisor program will prepare students to supervise special education services in the Early Childhood (K-4), Middle Level (4-8), or Secondary Education (7-12) level.  The Supervisor Certification programs are offered only at the graduate level and candidates must have completed five years of satisfactory professional experience as certified teachers in the supervisory certification areas prior to application. This program can be combined with MEd in Multicultural Education or MEd in Special Education.

Certification in School Counseling

Candidates who have already earned a master's degree from another institution in a related field are eligible for Certification Only rather than the full masters degree program. Prior to applying for admission into the Certification Only program, applicants must arrange for an interview with the School Counseling Degree Coordinator. The purpose of the interview is to review all previous graduate courses to determine their comparability to similar courses in the Eastern University graduate program. 

Early Childhood Director

The online early childhood director coursework at Eastern University is part of the requirement for the Pennsylvania Director Credential offered through the PA Keys.  The three courses help prepare those working in Early Childhood programs gain the leadership skills necessary to direct a high quality Early Childhood program. This course work is necessary for directors in STAR 3 & 4 and Head Start programs.

MA in School Counseling

The mission of the School Counseling program is to train masters level graduates who 1) function as advocates for their students, 2) promote the welfare of the entire learning community, 3) use evidenced-based practices, 4) are academically prepared to seek Pennsylvania certification as elementary and secondary school counselors, and 5) are educationally prepared for the Pennsylvania Licensed Professional Counselor (meets the eight educational content areas) and Behavior Specialist License.

M.Ed. in Reading

The Master of Education in Reading Program prepares students to become highly qualified literacy professionals while obtaining certification as a k-12 reading specialist. The focus of the program is to facilitate the development of literacy educators that are able to meet the literacy needs of all children by providing various informal and formal assessments and instruction across the curriculum for a wide range of literacy needs in classrooms and schools. This program is aligned to Eastern University’s mission as participants gain knowledge and expertise in reading and literary education and are prepared to be literacy leaders.

M.Ed. TESOL- Online

Eastern University’s Online Master of Education in TESOL is committed to prepare professionals to work effectively with people from all cultural backgrounds and to provide English instruction to English learners in the United States and the world.

Fast-Track MBA® in Management

The Fast-Track MBA® curriculum has been taught for over 20 years in Greater Philadelphia & Harrisburg.  The program is designed for working adults to fit into your busy lifestyle. Classes are one night per week which allows busy adults to finish their degree in one to two years, while still remaining eligible for financial aid.  The program is also available on-ground (in a blended format) and totally online.

The Master of Divinity (MDIV) degree is the standard degree required by many church denominations prior to ordination to pastoral ministry. Palmer Seminary prepares pastors for ministry in several different denominations. Students take the same core courses, then move on to upper-level courses that address denominational requirements. However, not all who earn the MDIV go on to pastoral ministry. The MDIV also prepares men and women for a variety of ministry-oriented vocations
