Philosophy Internships

Philosophy Department Internships

Philosophy students have many opportunities for experiential learning that prepare them for further work in the field.  The Eastern Universtity Philosophical Society is a student-run club that provides experience organizing lectures and other events.  A yearly intercollegiate colloquium at Grove City college offers a taste of what an academic conference is like.

EU philosophy students have participated in internships and summer programs with a variety of organizations such as the Elm Institute in New Haven, Intercollegiate Studies Institute, and the National Catholic Bioethics Center.  Many join the Paideia Seminar, a discussion group with students from Villanova and Penn as well as Eastern, which is partly sponsored by the Agora Institute.

The Agora Institute also offers a number of fellowships (see Agora Fellows have worked as research assistants and editorial assistants on faculty research projects—a very valuable experience to bring into graduate school.
