February 11, 2022: London Coe- Abolitionist and Owner of Peace on Fifth

London ColeWindows on the World (February 11th at 10 a.m.): “Why Aren’t You Eating More Chocolate?". Human trafficking is a growing international, and yes domestic industry that captures global headlines. As we look to make needle-moving changes in our personal lives and in our society’s life, how we reach out for each other, see each other, ignore each other helps mark how we see our connection and commitment to work for change. London Coe will speak of how daily impacts, like eating chocolate, drive sustainable incremental change. Her talk will introduce the impact of human trafficking on our everyday lives, give concrete solutions to drive change that anyone can handle, and address compassion fatigue and finding fire to help you be the change you want to see in the world.

Sitting in her living room, waiting for her calling, Ms. London Coe decided that the silence she heard was not good enough. As a result, she launched campaigns that grew her interest and curiosity about the world. These campaigns included: Fair Trade Dayton, a campaign that gained international recognition and certification of Dayton, Ohio as a Fair Trade City; Start Freedom Dayton, a three year film series premiering films about human trafficking and partnering with local and government organizations to educate the public about human trafficking prevention and eradication; Learn Love Eat, a food education conference for beer, bourbon, cheese, chocolate, and coffee; Peace on Fifth, a compassionate commerce store (celebrating ten years in 2021) selling traceable, slave free, fair and directly traded, eco friendly goods from local, national, and international markers supporting an end to human trafficking AKA modern day slavery.  London didn’t wait for the mountain to come to her, she went after the mountain. The idea of seeking instead of waiting for inspiration is steeped in the idea to pursue failure for success. Learn more about London Coe.
