Admissions Requirements

  • Academic Requirements
    • Completed Master of Divinity, Master of Theological Studies, Masters of Counseling, or Masters degree in a related field from a college or university that is institutionally accredited and endorsed by CHEA.
    • Completed bachelor’s degree from a college or university that is institutionally accredited and endorsed by CHEA.
    • Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Interview with the DA Admissions Committee.
     
  • Completed application packet, including:
    1. Official Transcripts- official transcripts must be submitted from all institutions of higher education that the applicant attended. Learn How to Request a Transcript from your previous school(s).
    2. Resume/curriculum vitae
    3. Two essays (see below)
    4. Three letters of recommendation completed using this online recommendation form(Please send the link to this form to your references.)
    5.  $75 application fee.
  • Essay Prompts:
    1. Statement of Purpose: A four to six-page essay addressing how the program goals coincide with the student's personal and professional objectives. The essay will be evaluated on the basis of content, presentation, and evidence of doctoral-level writing ability.
    2. Statement of Faith: A four to six-page descriptive, analytical essay focusing on how you have been impacted by your family of origin (positively and/or negatively) and how your faith journey has informed your understanding of yourself as a professional. This essay will be evaluated based on content, presentation, and evidence of doctoral-level writing ability.
