DA in Marriage and Family Curriculum Overview

Degree Requirements - 60 Credits

42 credits – Core Studies
15 credits – Research Methodology, Dissertation
3 credits – Field Supervision of Counseling

Curriculum Delivery Model

  • Cohort model: Students move through the curriculum as a group.
  • Calendar framework (see below)
  • Blended Online and Residency instructional format with a one-week residency of intensive classroom instruction and 14 weeks of online coursework.  Attendance at residency weeks is mandatory.
  • Three terms per year: May-August, September-December, January-April
  • Two courses (6 credits) per term

    Cohorts 1-3 Residency: October 7-11
         - Cohort 1 will take Comprehensive Exams in this Residency
    Reading Period: November 27– December 6

    Spring 2014
    Classes begin: Monday, January 13
    Application Deadline: January 15
    Cohorts 2-3 Residency: February 3 – 7
    New Cohort Interviews: March 10, 12, 17, 19
    Last Day to Defend Thesis: April 4
    Reading Period: April 9–18

    Summer 2014
    Classes begin: Monday, May 12
    Cohort 4 Residency: May 12–16
    Cohorts 2-3 Residency: June 9-13
    Reading Period: July 20–August 8

    Fall 2014
    Classes begin: Tuesday, September 2
    Cohort 2, 3 & 4 Residency: October 6-10
