Student Teaching

Music Ed Students must do seven weeks of student teaching in an Elementary School and seven weeks in a Middle or High School.  The Music Department does its best to place them in the areas that they prefer and with Co-Operating teachers with whom they will work well.  A lot of care and prayer go into this process.  Along with Student Teaching, there is a weekly Practicum.  In that class we talk about our experiences, share our problems and triumphs and encourage and support each other.  We also learn more about some of the topics we covered in Methods classes.  At the end of our Student Teaching, we evaluate each student.  The students read and comment on what we have written.  If they approve, they sign off on it and we turn that into the Education Department.  It is then sent to the state with the application for Certification.
