Eastern is excited to welcome Philadelphia Phillies pitchers Jerad Eickhoff and Jeanmar Gómez as special guests on the show. Eickhoff made his MLB debut in 2015 and Gómez in 2010. As professing Christians, the players will discuss how their faith impacts their positions as major league baseball players.
"I ask God to take control. That enables me to stay calm," Gómez shared in an interview with CSN Philly. "When you have Jesus in your heart you have to be humble. When he came to Earth he wanted simplicity for us. That enables you to serve others."
Ideal for Youth Pastors and Coaches
Faith on the Field is an ideal event for church youth groups and sports teams. Youth pastors are encouraged to bring their students for an inspiring discussion about how faith impacts every area of our lives—including sports, careers, and relationships. Coaches of youth and adult sports teams will enjoy sharing with their players this unique conversation about how sports can be an arena for displaying the Kingdom of God.
Fun for the EU Community
Eastern also looks forward to sharing this rich opportunity with members of the EU community. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni won't want to miss this fun and engaging event happening right here on campus. Enjoy insights from our own Professor Doug Horton, gained from his experience as Sr. Lecturer in our Department of Kinesiology, Clinical Coordinator of our Athletic Training Education Program, and Director of our Life Fitness Program.
Download a campus map here. Please enter campus through our main entrance on Eagle Rd and follow the signs to the designated event parking lots. Signs will then direct you along a walking path to the Gymnasium (#13 on the map).
Special Needs: Passengers who need to be dropped off closer to the site may do so at the Gym entrance on Fairview Drive. Drivers must then proceed to the Eagle Road entrance and regular parking areas.
