Mr. Amoroso studied with Samuel Mayes and William Stokking, both former first chair members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Lorne Munroe, first chair with New York Philharmonic. While in the United States Air Force Mr. Amoroso appeared frequently throughout the United States with the Air Force Symphony. As a chamber music artist Mr. Amoroso has appeared with the Concert Soloists of Philadelphia and the Davisbund Trio. He is also a retired member of the Philly Pops Orchestra and has performed with his son, Richard Jr., a violinist with the Philadelphia Orchestra, as guest soloists with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops at the Academy of Music in May of 1989 and 1991. Currently, Mr. Amoroso is a substitute cellist with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
