Duncan Slade is the Assistant Director of Advancement Services at Eastern University. In this role, he wrangles and harnesses data to support the Advancement office and fundraising efforts across campus. He is passionate about leveraging digital tools to engage students, alumni, family and friends to be part of the Eastern community, both on campus and around the country.
He previously worked as a fundraiser, investigative reporter, and deputy editor at Mountain State Spotlight, a nonprofit investigative newsroom in West Virginia. He reported on education, with an emphasis on the state’s flagship R-1 institution. In addition to reporting for public radio and fact-checking politicians, Duncan served as editor-in-chief of his college newspaper, where he led a digital-first transformation that more than doubled its readership. His work has been published by NPR, the Associated Press and The Washington Post.
He is a graduate of West Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and previously attended Frederick Community College. He lives in West Philadelphia, and loves square dances, bluegrass music, and sweet tea.
