As Interim Executive Dean of Esperanza College, Dr. Hurtado is responsible for setting the vision, the strategic direction, and providing leadership and management for the programs and faculty.

Dr. Hurtado has over 25 years of experience in education, business, media, and ministry. He has a PhD in Communication with a focus on entertainment-education and transmedia storytelling from Regent University’s School of Communication and the Arts, a master’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on marketing and nonprofit management from Regent University’s School of Business and Leadership, and a bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting from Toccoa Falls College.

Prior to coming to Esperanza, Dr. Hurtado served as Associate Dean of Administration at Regent University, where he helped develop its educational programs in Hollywood, the Sundance Film Festival, the Transformational Media program overseas, its C.S. Lewis program at Oxford, England, and oversaw administration and innovative marketing recruitment efforts. Dr. Hurtado is an entrepreneur, media producer and transmedia consultant with extensive international experience in the use of all types of media to have a positive influence in society. He has taught as an adjunct professor in the areas of entertainment-education and social change, media production, transmedia storytelling, television production, media studies, communication, cross-cultural communication, and other classes.

Dr. Hurtado is an immigrant who was born in Bolivia, grew up in Miami, and lives in Philadelphia with his wife and family.
