An applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapist studies, observes and modifies the behavior of a variety of clients. ABA therapists work in schools, intermediate units, mental health agencies, or within their own practice or consulting firm. ABA therapists often work with clients identified with developmental disabilities, primarily autism. Applied Behavior Analysts improve the growth, development, and quality of life for their clients by designing individualized interventions and instructional programs. The job market looks promising for ABA therapists. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for applied behavior analysis therapists is expected to increase by 22% between 2021 and 2031, which is much faster than the projections for other occupations (www.bls.gov).
