College of Education Undergraduate and Behavioral Science Student Leadership and Service Award:

Candidates must be graduating seniors enrolled as a baccalaureate student in the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences who have maintained a 3.5 grade point average. The recipient demonstrates leadership through service and advocacy in the Eastern University community, local schools (PreK-12 grades), professional organizations and faith institutions. Two awards are distributed every year. Each award is $200.00. The awardee will:

  1. Demonstrate leadership in the classroom and within the larger EU community
  2. Show dedication to EU and community service and advocacy
  3. Promote social justice that advocates for students

College of Education and Behavioral Sciences Kappa Delta Pi (KDP) or PSI CHI Student Leadership, Service, and Advocacy Award:

This award recognizes two (2) students in the College of Education and Behavioral Science who demonstrate leadership through service and advocacy in KDP/PSI CHI activities that engage the Eastern University community, local schools, agencies, and organizations that advocate for students. Each award is $200.00. The awardee will:

  1. Demonstrate leadership in KDP/PSY CHI government and events

  2. Participate in community service and advocacy

College of Education and Behavioral Science Graduate Student Award for Leadership, Service and Advocacy:

This award recognizes graduate students in the College of Education and Behavioral Science who demonstrate leadership through service and advocacy in the Eastern University community, local schools, professional organizations and faith institutions. Two awards will be given each year. Each award is $200.00. The awardees will:

  1. Present a professional agenda dedicated to leadership in faith, reason and justice; 
  2. Demonstrate ongoing and meaningful service to the local community; and
  3. Directly engage the Eastern community in faith and justice efforts. 

Selection Process

Students will submit a resume and an essay outlining their professional agenda between February 1st - April 1, each year. Any currently enrolled students can apply. Finalists will be chosen and funds distributed in May. Candidates will be ranked on evidence of the three criteria above as outlined in their essay and resume. Students in the following programs are qualified to apply:

  • MAMFT/PhD/DA Marriage and Family Therapy
  • MS + CAGS School Psychology
  • MA in Counseling Psychology
  • MEd in School Counseling
  • MEd in Curriculum and Instruction
  • MEd in Educational Leadership
  • MEd in Multicultural Education
  • MEd in Reading
  • MEd in Special Education
  • MEd in TESOL
