The graduate program credit evaluator will help students develop a plan of study meeting the following conditions. All credits must be from graduate courses at the 500 level or above. A total of 30* credits are required for the MEd degree.

Core Courses (9 credits)

  • EDUC 517 Multicultural Education (3 credits)
  • EDUC 623 Curriculum Design (3 credits)
  • EDUC 635 Research Design (3 credits)

Concentration Area (21 credits)

Each MEd student must complete a concentration of courses in the student's emphasis.

The concentrations are:

  • Principal Certification
  • Single Area Supervisor Certification (Special Education, Foreign Languages PK-12, Health and Physical Education PK-12, Mathematics 7-12, Music PK-12, School Health Services PK-12, Science 7-12, Social Studies 7-12)

Principal Certification Track

Required for Certification (with 60 hours of internship each)

  • EDUC 588 Principal as Instructional Leader I  (3 Credits, Summer I Only)
  • EDUC 589 Principal as Instructional Leader II  (3 Credits, Summer I Only)
  • EDUC 590 The Principalship I (3 Credits, Fall Only)
  • EDUC 591 The Principalship II (3 Credits, Fall Only)
  • EDUC 598 Leadership Models for Effective Education I (Spring Only)
  • EDUC 599 Leadership Models for Effective Education II (3 Credits, Spring Only)

Elective Courses

Single Area Supervisor Certification Track

Required for Certification*

  • EDUC 607 Supervision of Instruction (3 credits, Fall Only)
  • EDUC 608 Seminar for Supervisors (3 credits, Fall Only, 60 hours of internship)
  • EDUC 614 Practicum for the Supervisor (3 credits, Spring Only, 300 hours of internship)
  • EDUC 624 School Law (3 credits, Summer I only)
