Dr. Evans Addo is an economist and university educator whose career bridges applied economic policy, academic research, and data-driven decision-making. He serves as an Adjunct Professor of Economics at Eastern University, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Managerial Economics, and advises MBA students on capstone projects. His teaching philosophy centers on empowering students to apply economic thinking to real-world challenges, strengthening their ability to make informed decisions.
Dr. Addo brings his professional experience into the classroom. As a Senior Economist for the New Mexico Workers’ Compensation Administration, he provides economic leadership on projects that affect thousands of injured workers and employers in the state. His work has focused on developing reimbursement rates for medical providers in the workers’ compensation system, designing an index for cost-of-living adjustments for injured workers on indemnity benefits, and building forecasting models to inform legislative budgeting. He co-led a cross-agency effort to transition New Mexico from the UCR methodology to an RBRVS-based physician fee schedule - modernizing how medical services are priced to improve access and equity. His research has been instrumental in securing the New Mexico legislation to ensure the financial sustainability of the agency. Before entering government service, Dr. Addo conducted academic research that examined how changes in policy instruments influence financial performance, inflation, and the health of the broader economy.
Dr. Addo is passionate about teaching because he believes economics offers a powerful framework for understanding human behavior, business strategy, and global policy. He views teaching as a calling that inspires critical thinking, confidence, and a deeper appreciation of how economic knowledge can be used to solve problems and better serve humanity.
