Taja Mclean

Adjunct Professor of Psychology


Dr. Taja Mclean is an inspirational, positive, and driven educator and mental health professional whose life’s work is dedicated to empowering students and children/adolescents. From a young age, she felt a calling to support the social and emotional growth of youth, guiding them to discover their strengths and find their voice.

With over a decade of experience in both schools and private practice, Taja has worked with children and families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, bringing empathy, cultural sensitivity, and creativity to every interaction. She holds multiple credentials, including Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, Certified School Counselor, and Trauma-Focused Creative Art Therapist.

Her professional journey blends the worlds of education and mental health, using evidence-based practices to uplift and inspire students. Taja’s research interests include Child and Adolescent School Psychology, Social-Emotional Learning, Play Therapy, and fostering resilience among children of color.

Whether in the classroom, counseling office, or community, Taja’s mission is clear: to nurture potential, ignite hope, and help young people thrive.
