Application Steps

STEP 1
If you meet the above requirements, submit the following:

  • Application: Completed and signed at eastern.edu/apply
  • Identity Verification: Once you have submitted your application, you will receive a separate email with a secure link to complete identity verification through the PLAID platform. This step confirms your identity as part of the application process and must be finished before your application can be reviewed.
  • Official Transcript(s) must be submitted from all colleges attended.
  • Current Resume or CV
  • Two references: 1 academic and 1 professional. If students have been out of school for more than four years they can use two professional references.
  • Personal Statement (500-750 words):  Please describe your proposed problem of practice – a persistent challenge or issue in your professional context that you are passionate about addressing. In your statement, be sure to address the following:
    • What motivates you to pursue this EdD program?
    • What population, organization or system are you focused on?
    • What is the specific problem or area of focus?
    • If you could develop or improve one thing in your setting, what would it be?
    • Do you currently have access to this context for potential research or inquiry?

STEP 2

After completion of the application process, selected candidates will be invited in for:

  • An admissions interview with a faculty member.
  • A Writing Task, to be completed via Zoom, after the interview.
