Admissions Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university with institutional accreditation that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

  • Completed Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, School Psychology, or a related field from a college or university with institutional accreditation that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The EdD assumes the applicant has at least 30 graduate credits.

  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0 for undergraduate and 3.5 for graduate studies.

Application Steps

STEP 1
If you meet the above requirements, submit the following:

  • Application: Completed and signed at eastern.edu/apply
  • Official Transcript(s) must be submitted from all colleges attended. 
  • Current Resume or CV
  • Two references: 1 academic and 1 professional. If students have been out of school for more than four years they can use two professional references.
  • Personal Statement (500-750 words):  Please describe your proposed problem of practice – a persistent challenge or issue in your professional context that you are passionate about addressing. In your statement, be sure to address the following: 
    • What motivates you to pursue this EdD program?
    • What population, organization or system are you focused on?
    • What is the specific problem or area of focus?
    • If you could develop or improve one thing in your setting, what would it be?
    • Do you currently have access to this context for potential research or inquiry?

STEP 2

After completion of the application process, selected candidates will be invited in for:

  • An admissions interview with a faculty member.
  • A Writing Task, to be completed via Zoom, after the interview.
