An individualized program of study will be created by the Registrar and the Music Department for each student outlining the required Education and Music classes required for certification.

** Make a formal application for student teaching between Dec. 15 to Jan. 15 if you plan to student teach the following fall or spring semester.

This certification requires field experience/observation hours, which are embedded in courses throughout this program.  For a list of courses requiring field observations, please view the College of Education Field Experience Observation Hours webpage.

Required tests for certification: Music: Content Knowledge #5113 and Fundamental Content Knowledge #0511/5511. Test requirements are subject to change; therefore candidates for certification are responsible for checking current PA test information prior to registering for tests.

External Agencies have authority to impose new standards for certification before a student's program of study is completed.
