The EQUIP Program is an intensive two-week experience (typically in July) designed to provide entering first-year students in traditional undergraduate programs with a solid foundation that will support them throughout their college careers.

The academic component of the program aims to help students develop and solidify their skills in key areas essential to success in college. Students take classes targeting college-level reading and writing, math, and "survival skills" such as time management, study skills, and relating to others in the college community. Students have the opportunity to begin some courses that continue into their first semester of study.

EQUIP students live on campus throughout the program and get an early introduction to campus life. Recreational activities are planned to acquaint students with the local community and to give them a chance to get to know one another. Past EQUIP students have said that the friendships they developed and their familiarity with the campus made them feel that they had a real advantage when they started classes in the fall.

Entrance into EQUIP is based upon the requirement or recommendation of Undergraduate Admissions. Other interested students may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
