In creating an atmosphere of learning and experiencing the language and culture of different countries, students participate in several activities on campus and in the community. Spanish and French clubs hold events on campus for students.
Le Club Français plans events for the academic year. The club organizes movie parties, crêpe events, and a monthly Bible study on campus. In addition, Le Club Français travels off-campus to dine at French and Haitian restaurants, attend French-speaking churches, and go to the theater to see French plays.
La Table Française is for students and Francophiles to meet every Wednesday for lunch in the Dining Commons to meet and engage in speaking the language that they are learning in a relaxed setting.
The Spanish Club holds movie nights, praise and worship events, and they dine at different Spanish restaurants throughout each semester. In addition, cultural trips are planned to art museums and theaters in Philadelphia and New York City.
Phi Sigma Iota is the International Language Honor Society at Eastern. All of these opportunities allow students to engage in learning the culture and the language through interactions with faculty and the culturally diverse community in which we live.
The Latin American Civilization and Culture class made a field trip to the Penn Museum this fall.
