Who is considered an international student?
A non-U.S. citizen requiring a F-1 in order to study at Eastern University

To be considered for admission, submit the following:

  1. Apply to the Traditional Undergraduate Program (Bachelor's)
  2. Official transcripts evaluated by a NACES member from all high schools/secondary schools/college/universities attended. You may choose any NASCES-member organization. We recommend WES, SpanTran, IFCS, and IERF.
  3. Optional: Official results of any national exams.
  4. Optional: Official SAT results sent directly from Educational Testing Service (ETS). This is optional, just TOEFL or IELTS is required if English is not a primary language.
  5. Optional essay question: After reading the mission statement of Eastern University, please describe how you see your talents, interests and abilities fitting into the mission of the University. Maximum one page. (Eastern University reserves the right to request an essay as a required credential of an application.)
  6. An English test score, sent directly by TOEFL, IELTS, or the Duolingo English test.

English Language Test Waiver Details

When can the TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo be waived?

The English language requirement (TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo) can be waived if an applicant meets one of the following:

  • They provide either an official statement from their previous university certifying that the primary language of instruction was English or a link to the institution’s official website stating the language of instruction was English.

  • Proof that the applicant has worked 2 or more years in the U.S. 

  • The applicant is a citizen of one of the following countries: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Botswana, British Virgin Islands, Canada (except Quebec), Cayman Islands, Christmas Island, Cook Islands, Dominica, Fiji, Ghana, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guyana, Isle of Man, Jamaica, Kenya, Lesotho, LIberia, Malawi, Micronesia, Montserrat, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Pitcairn Island, Republic of Ireland, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Sudan, St. Helena, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Swaziland, South Africa, Tanzania, The Gambia, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, Uganda, United Kingdom, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

  • The applicant received a degree from an American college or university.

When will I hear back?

Upon completion of these steps, your application will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee, and you will be notified within 4-6 weeks of the decision.

Scholarships for International Students

As an international student, you may be eligible for an International Student Grant or other merit-based scholarships & grants. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to gain or apply to:

Accepted?

Before Eastern can send out your I-20, you will need to provide us with the following documents:

  • Must be admitted to Eastern
  • Provide Bank Statement from parent/sponsor indicating that the balance of Tuition, Room and Board is available
  • Completion and submission of Eastern University International Student Health Forms

Deadline: All materials must be received by Eastern no later than 90 days before your intended start date.
