Management concepts, theories, and principals are introduced and analyzed, as well as the functions, roles, and responsibilities of administrators. The primary emphasis throughout the course is on decision-making in management situations and activities.

The course provides the student with knowledge of general models of organizational communication strategies as well as an understanding of the nature and potential benefits of internal and external communication networks. It presents tools and strategies that enhance oral communication, this being an essential part of the management process.

The course introduces concepts and models related to human behavior (individual and group) in organizations. Instruments for analysis at the individual, group, and organizational levels are discussed.

The course introduces basic marketing concepts and generic marketing strategies. Emphasis is placed on consumer behavior and the understanding of needs, motivations, and socio-cultural factors that intervene in the consumer decision process.

Explanation and development of the role of finance and of financial officers within corporations, the tax system within which businesses operate, basic tools for financial analysis and planning; the structure and administration of assets; the structure and administration of debts and working capital; and sources of financing.
EC 103 Economic Environments - satisfied with ECON 203 & 204 (EU)
In this course students will be provided with a first look at economic phenomena. More than a course in analysis and modeling techniques, this course is meant to instill in students the ability to understand socioeconomic problems, especially those in our own environment. The BA in International Area Studies and Business is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education and accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
