Enactus is...

“Enactus is an international non-profit organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need.

Guided by academic advisors and business experts, the student leaders of Enactus create and implement community empowerment projects around the globe. The experience not only transforms lives, it helps students develop the kind of talent and perspective that are essential to leadership in an ever-more complicated and challenging world.” – enactus.org

entrepreneurial—having the perspective to see an opportunity and the talent to create value from that opportunity;

action—the willingness to do something and the commitment to see it through even when the outcome is not guaranteed;

us—a group of people who see themselves connected in some important way; individuals that are part of a greater whole.

Enactus @ Eastern

Eastern members of Enactus are peer recommended, faculty approved and receive course credit for their endeavors. Students from all majors are welcome. We strive to ignite an entrepreneurial mindset for the purpose of bringing about progress.  In these circumstances, progress is defined as actively engaging in projects that we feel positively impact both Eastern University and the broader surrounding communities as well.  Enactus members understand that we have a responsibility to help others, and work to do so through entrepreneurial action.  We are proud of our commitment to this action and continually seek new opportunities in which we can help to further the ends of the communities in which we live, and consequently impact the global community as a whole. This Chapter has won the Regional Competition 5 times.

“During my time at Eastern, I was a member in Enactus for 5 semesters and served as the Secretary and Vice President over the time. This experience prepared me for my career in ways that a typical class couldn’t. Our independently driven projects combined everything I learned in the classroom about marketing, managing, sales, etc. and gave us tools to work as a team with real businesses, real people and real money. Both the successful and the disappointing projects gave me learning opportunities to apply in any direction that my career goes.”
