The Eastern University Summer Jazz Camp, powered by the PA Jazz Institute, offers an engaging one-week experience for dedicated student musicians in grades 7–12 with at least three years of instrumental or vocal study.
Hosted at Eastern University in Fowler Hall, the program is led by Department Chair Steven Ford, Executive Director Ed Jakuboski, and Artistic Director Marko Marcinko.
Participants perform in jazz ensembles while exploring a comprehensive curriculum that includes improvisation, jazz history and theory, and essential performance techniques. In addition, students gain valuable insight into today’s music world through sessions on social media for musicians, music industry software, and creating music online.
The camp concludes with a final concert in Clemens Recital Hall, showcasing the week’s work.
