The EU School of Nursing holds a "Pinning Ceremony" for each of its successful BSN graduates. Pinning ceremonies have a long history, but most nursing schools associate this with the pinning ceremonies initiated by Florence Nightingale in the late 1880's. This is a special event in the SON calendar, and is a time to reflect on the accomplishments of the graduates. The act of "pinning" each student with the School of Nursing is a valued tradition in nursing, and Eastern students invite a special person in their lives to pin them during the ceremony.
