St. Davids, PA: Eastern University’s College of Health and Sciences recently received an $80,000 grant from the McLean Contributionship, a charitable organization in Wayne, PA, to purchase an Anatomage Table. This cutting-edge technology will be used by multiple programs within the college and will provide an exceptional hands-on learning experience for Eastern students.
An Anatomage Table is a life-sized, digital anatomy dissection table that allows students to virtually "dissect" a human body and explore anatomy in a realistic and interactive way. The table features high-resolution imaging of real human and animal cadavers, as well as an extensive library of medical scans.
With this new technology, students can engage with a life-sized, 3D model of the human body, rotating, zooming, and virtually dissecting structures in real time. The Anatomage Table also allows nursing students to observe a simulated birth, providing a clear view of how a baby’s position impacts the delivery process and offering insight into potential complications. These interactive features give students the opportunity to learn, practice, and problem-solve in a safe, controlled environment, strengthening their knowledge and confidence without the pressures of real-life consequences.
“This technology would bring deeper meaning to our class material,” says nursing major Ellie Folga ’27. “Being able to visualize the structures, layers, and developmental stages of the human body really puts everything into perspective. The Anatomage Table would enhance my understanding of the material and help me see connections across systems in a more interactive, detailed way.”
Nursing major Cassady Curtorillo ’27 adds: “I am in awe of the unique functions the Anatomage Table offers and wish I had this when I was taking anatomy. It will be an amazing addition to Eastern University and allow students to interact with the material in a whole new way!”
