How does the prop you brought represent you?
My world map is a reflection of my ambition and passion. God is revealed in so many ways, all of the cultures reflect a part of God and for me, give me a more holistic picture of who God is.

How would you describe courage in one sentence?

Courage to me is letting go of fear for one moment and accept the consequences that comes from that moment.

How did getting your degree require courage?

Throughout my whole four years I have struggled with finances and being able to pay for college but God placed in me the courage of humility to ask for help when i needed it. Only through the miracles of God was I able to finish college.

How does your current job or career path require courage?

September 17th will be my last day in the states. I have joined the Peace Corps program and will be in Zambia for two years. I needed courage to make that decision because even though two years is not a long time, a lot can happen and a lot can change. I had to have courage to accept all my fears and for a moment realize that my fear is smaller than what I will be experiencing and learning. For just one single moment I let all of it go and decided to pursue something that was greater than myself.

How did EU help you become more courageous in your thinking and actions?

EU has given me the role models I needed to be who I am today. Through the kindness and strictness of my professors and staff I have learned more about myself and more importantly God. EU has given me the guidance needed to find my path in life, through being a Resident Assistant, part of the Student Activities Board, leading the Habitat ministry, being involved with MAAC and being a double major. Eastern has become a place where I have failed and succeeded, where I was pushed and pulled. The love I received from Eastern has made me realize how much I need to give back to my community and how courage needs to be shared.

Where do you hope courage will lead you in the future?

I hope that courage will continuously help me see the good in humanity and to pursue God with all my heart. Courage will help me understand that God is greater than fear and I am greater than fear. Courage is standing on the side of weak and marginalize and to show the love of God rather than the fear of man. Courage will lead me to continually pick up my cross, every single day, and to pursue the one I call my lord and savior.
