Khareema ’18, Early Childhood Education

Mother. Prevention specialist. Cycle-changer.

How does the prop you brought represent you?

My children were an integral part of the reason why I re-enrolled in school. I wanted to change the narrative of not graduating from college and create a new cycle.

How would you describe courage in one sentence?

Courage is being brave even when you are afraid or unsure and facing the uncertainty head on.

How did getting your degree require courage?

I was not concerned about the course load. I was concerned about juggling being a full-time student, a full-time parent, and a full-time employee and staying fully committed. I needed courage (and God) to manage all of that.

Where do you hope courage will lead you in the future?

I hope it leads me to where I am supposed to be.
