EU Earns Gold, Silver and Bronze in 2016 CUPPIE Awards

Eastern University has earned three awards from CUPRAP (College and University Public Relations and Associate Professionals), an organization dedicated to the training and professional development of communications professionals in higher education. The highly competitive and coveted CUPPIE Awards are given out each February and are designed to honor creative excellence in this field. Of the 2016 winners, Eastern earned Gold in the category of In-House Magazines for the Spring/Summer 2015 issue of Eastern, the Magazine of Eastern University; Silver in Feature Photography for an image from May 2015 Commencement; and Bronze for the 2015 Undergraduate Viewbook.

Eastern stood out in these categories among 380 entries from other colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland. Other categories included Advertising, Online Media, Print Media, Public Relations Campaigns, and more.

“Last year we determined to elevate the quality of our magazine and promotional materials.  We were pleased with the outcome, but it's extra special when one's professional peers recognize your accomplishments. Joining the likes of Carnegie Mellon University, last year's CUPRAP winner for in-house magazine, our materials place us in a stronger position to communicate Eastern's claims.” said Executive Vice President, Tom Ridington.

Founded in 1980 in Pennsylvania, CUPRAP was one of the first organizations of its kind. Now, it has over 400 members representing more than 100 institutions in several states. According to its website, “CUPRAP members work in public relations, media relations, marketing, publications, sports information, web and graphic design, and more. Members come from private and public colleges and universities, junior colleges, community colleges, independent schools, as well as other organizations involved in higher education.”
