St. Davids, PA: Palmer Theological Seminary of Eastern University is excited to announce the launch of its Foundations of Theological Education Certificate. This graduate-level certificate empowers students to reflect theologically and grow spiritually, enabling them to lay the groundwork for a more robust theological education.
For $5,760 total, the 4-course certificate is designed to deepen a sense of call and equip students with tools for ongoing ministerial formation, with generous scholarships available. Created with associate ministers, pastors, ministry leaders, community leaders, and spiritually curious lay people in mind, this program is designed to engage one in robust study in a spiritually supportive community.
This is an excellent opportunity for one to earn graduate level seminary credits that can be used later should one decide to pursue the MTS or MDiv degrees at Palmer.
The certificate offers a holistic and rigorous curriculum that includes 12 credits total in classes including:
- Biblical Interpretation for Ministry
- Theology and Ethics of Congregation Life
- Church in Mission through History
- Nurturing Spiritual Life and Character
The Foundation of Theological Education Certificate is biblically grounded and justice-oriented, encouraging students to serve as transformational leaders in diverse ministries and contexts. Expert faculty practitioners provide real-world experience that shapes classroom conversations and supports the holistic development of those in the program.
Students can enroll in this nine month program starting in Fall 2025. Classes will take place on Eastern University’s picturesque St. Davids campus. The program equips Christian leaders for whom seminary is not a prerequisite for service and ministry, or for whom the time and cost commitments of a full seminary degree are an application barrier.
