Biography

With over 32 years of nursing experience, 10 years teaching nursing clinical, and a strong commitment to women’s health and her faith, Sally brings expertise to Eastern.  Prior to becoming an obstetrical nurse, she worked in a medical surgical setting and step down telemetry. As an obstetrical nurse, her first passion was in Labor and Delivery and she worked at Lankenau Medical Center’s L&D unit for 21 years. Her career expanded when she became the clinical nurse educator for the OB unit; covering the nursery, L&D and Postpartum. In her time there, she became certified in Nursing Professional Development Specialist and assumed leadership roles in implementing newborn skin to skin, developing a program to employ cardiac monitoring for mothers postpartum, facilitating collaborative simulation drills with a multidisciplinary team, and leading a system level committee at Main Line Health on policy and procedures.

Additionally, she has taught nursing at the University of Pennsylvania and taught clinical for Jefferson University. She has been a mentor to new nursing graduates in the Nurse Residency program at Mainline Health. She has worked on the Southeastern Planning committee for AWHONN and has been a guest lecturer there. She frequently lectured in programming at Main Line Health for Perinatal safety, Obstetrical trauma, and Obstetrical Nursing for new nursing hires.

She is active in her church, Bible study, and spending time with her husband and two children. In her remaining free time, she enjoys taking care of her dog and gardening.

Why I Teach at Eastern

Since my youth, I have wanted to be either a teacher, nurse, or in Christian ministry. Teaching nursing at Eastern provides an amazing bled of all those!  Eastern’s holistic approach to nursing incorporates spirituality to nursing, and I believe that it can be applied to teaching students as novice nurses as well.  I embrace the warm and nurturing environment Eastern provides as it prepares competent, caring and holistic nurses.
