Residency Requirement
Eastern University is committed to student belonging, retention, and engagement. To promote student flourishing, students are required to live on campus for all 4 years unless they meet one of following three exceptions to become a Commuter, or unless housing reaches capacity.
Commuter Exceptions
- You plan to live at home with family
- You will be at least 23 years old when you start classes
- You are currently in the reserves or have served on active duty in the military
Housing Guarantee Policy
First-year and sophomore students are guaranteed on-campus housing if they complete the housing application by May 15. Sophomore students must also have no outstanding financial or conduct holds on their account in order to receive the guaranteed housing. Students who apply after May 15 will be awarded housing based on availability.
During junior and senior year, housing will be awarded based on availability. Historically, all students who have sought housing have been able to live on campus. Submitting the housing application before May 15 each year remains the best way to secure housing.
