Eastern Launches Direct-Entry Master of Science in Nursing

St. Davids, PA: Eastern University is excited to announce a new Direct-Entry Master of Science in Nursing, starting in Fall 2026. This program prepares students with non-nursing bachelor’s degrees to earn the following credentials and degrees within Eastern’s one comprehensive program:

  • RN license (awarded by the state)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN).

This innovative 75-credit program can be completed in only two years. During the first four semesters, students will spend two days on campus per week, combining clinical activity and online learning. During the final two semesters, students will complete their MSN 100% online.

“This program is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in healthcare but took a different path for their undergraduate studies. By integrating clinical training, leadership development, and compassionate care, we’re preparing students to step confidently into the nursing profession with advanced credentials and purpose.”

Dr. Kimberly Sharp, Associate Dean of Nursing

Taught by expert faculty, the rigorous curriculum merges theory with real-life clinical experience in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. Classes include Mental Health & Illness, Maternal-Child Nursing, Chronic Illness, Pediatric Nursing, and many more.

Graduates of the program will be equipped to work within the healthcare system in a variety of settings, including higher education, healthcare organizations, and throughout the global nursing community. Options for employment include unit-based staff nursing, unit charge nurse, community nursing, occupational health nursing, clinical educator, clinical adjunct for nursing programs, and more.

“The launch of this program reflects Eastern’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the healthcare field. It’s about expanding access to the profession while upholding the highest standards of academic and clinical excellence.”

Dr. Tracey Greenwood, Dean of the College of Health and Sciences
